Hey Friend!

Here’s another image in honor of Chief Bearheart, AKA “Mekko”  of the Perdido Bay Tribe of Lower Muscogee Creeks.  Not only does the turtle play an important role in Muscogee Creek storytelling, but I have so many fond memories of my boys feeding turtles on the grounds of the Creek Cultural Center in Pensacola, FL.  They’d walk out on the pier with a bag of stale bread that Chief would set aside for them.  The water was almost always like black glass.  All it took was one tiny “plop” of a bread crumb landing on the still surface & within seconds there were hundreds of turtle heads poking up out of the water, swimming our way!

I'd love to have you join me in the “Watercolor Wednesday Club”.  It’s FREE!  Just click the blue button over there on the right.    The more the merrier!
